Zidane: "Sell Cristiano Ronaldo? I'm the coach and I want him here"

Zinedine Zidanetalked shop in the build-up to his side's Champions League last-16 return match against Roma.

How he'll be approaching the game, with a 2-0 lead from the first leg: "The plan is to put out a team with a lot of firepower".
Not taking anything for granted: "The only thing we have to do is focus on winning the match. It's not going to be an easy game; it's going to be tough".
On James Rodríguez: "He's a committed player and a good trainer. I have to make changes, but what matters is for him to give his all out on the pitch, which is what he's doing. I'll always ask for more from him because of how talented he is and I want more from everyone, but he's improving".
On what he thinks about some fans wanting Cristiano Ronaldo to be sold:"I don't. I'm the coach and I want Cristiano here. I was booed too. It's not about any one player: they're a crowd who want more and that's good because it forces you to improve and to try to always do your best. The fans love their players... at the end of the day".
Does he feel under pressure to win the Champions League? "The imperative isn't to win the Champions League, but to win the Roma match, and then to turn our attention to the weekend and the league. I'm not thinking about it being a good or bad season".
A message for the fans?"The fans are very important for us. They've always stood by us and it's normal for them to boo when things don't go the way they want - it's part and parcel of football. We shouldn't make any more of it".
Is he worried about Roma?"Roma are a good team, but I'm more concerned about what we do. It's going to be difficult".
Misgivings over Real Madrid's unconvincing performances: "I don't care about raising doubts. We just have to concentrate on the game and be fully focused. If you don't play well, you run the risk of getting knocked out. We'll prepare for the match as best we can".
On Borja Mayoral: "He's still a Castilla player but he's an important member of the squad. We have to ease him in. Benzema's absence makes it tough for us".
On Gareth Bale"He's fit and ready to play. The sock thing [wearing socks with holes in] is up to him. He's fine".
Taking things one game at a time: "I see this as the most important match of my career because it's the next one. After that, the one on Sunday will become the most important. These are the sorts of matches you want to be involved in as a coach".
